City & Guilds 7160 2 Award Levels 1 and 2

City and Guilds craft qualifications are recognised for their high standards and commitment to practical skills.  Having taught City & Guilds since 1998 and holding a degree equivalent City & Guilds in Fashion myself, I am commited to providing mature students with flexible access to this qualification.  If you also like structure to your studies this course is ideal for you.

With an emphasis on practical skills there is no written project work.  You will use a digital camera to record your work (don't worry I will show you how).  We will explore colour, texture, design principles, sewing machine and overlocker skills, garment construction techniques and finishing.  You will build a portfolio of instructions and samples to help you make fabulous clothes with stylish individuality and a professional finish.  Fascinating background research explores the influences and drives the constantly changing world of fashion.

I will offer continual support during your studies helping you to achieve not only the course aims but your own.

The  Fashion and Pattern Cutting Award qualification is in a modular format across a wide range of garments. You will undertake one module at a time (one garment) but can subsequently undertake other modules within the qualification scheme (across levels 1 and 2) on a rolling programme building a comprehensive portfolio of skills in a flexible way.  Qualifications under this scheme are marked at pass, merit or distinction for each module.
